NBRHOOD / HELP
A little guidance.
Every step of the way.
Applying, sharing a document or getting ready to move? Find your next step here, with a way to reach us when you need a hand.
01
Your application
What do I need to complete before I can send my application?
Start by choosing an available home. The steps guide you through contact details, your household and preferences, income and a final review. Documents come later, after your leasing team requests documents and screening. The progress guide shows where you are; use Back if you need to change an earlier answer.
Your phone number, employer or business, role, and total annual salary or income are required. Enter “Not applicable” for employer and role if needed. Zero is a valid income amount; explain savings, benefits, student funding or other support in the accompanying note. You don’t need to be employed to explain how you would support the tenancy.
If Continue doesn’t move to the next step, check the messages beside your answers. Review the information and consent at the last step, then send the application. Wait for the confirmation before leaving.
Can I save my progress or correct something after sending?
After saving your contact step, you can return to the saved application from your dashboard using “Continue application.” Keep the application tab open while you complete the remaining steps. Unsent financial answers and selected files aren’t retained when you leave or reload the tab.
After submission, use “A note for your leasing team” on your dashboard to explain a correction. Select the right home before choosing “Save reply.” Don’t submit a duplicate application just to correct an answer.
I need another way to apply or provide information.
If a question or document requirement doesn’t fit your circumstances, explain it in the application or email the NBRS team to ask about an alternative or an accessible application format. Say what you need help with. Don’t attach financial documents or identification to the email; ask how to share them securely.
02
Your documents
Which documents can I use, and how do I prepare them?
You do not need documents for the first round. If invited to round two, share your previous address and government photo ID using that private step. Follow the separate SingleKey invitation for its own information and consent process. Your team may discuss alternative evidence if a requirement does not fit your circumstances.
- For second-round ID, use PDF, JPG, PNG or HEIC, up to 10 MB. Lease signatures must be PDFs. Each upload shows its accepted formats.
- Upload only what is requested at the current step. Keep related pages together in a PDF when needed.
- Make sure the text is readable and the necessary pages are included.
- Hide SINs, account numbers, unrelated transactions and sensitive identifiers. Do not upload a SIN card or health card.
If you can’t provide a document yet, tell the team what you can provide so they can discuss an alternative. Read our privacy notice before sharing sensitive information.
My upload failed. What should I do?
- Check the file type and size. An empty file, unsupported format or file over the limit displayed beside that step won’t upload.
- Check your connection and keep the tab open while uploading.
- Stay on the step and read its confirmation or error message. Select the file again and retry if an upload failed.
- If you already left that screen, sign in to NBRHOOD and reopen the second-round or move-in requirement that requested the document.
Your application may already have been received even if a document failed to upload. Check your dashboard before applying again. If the problem continues, email the error wording, file type and size to hello@nbrs.ca; don’t attach the document.

What happens next
Where do I check my status or answer the leasing team?
- Open your home dashboard and select “Refresh updates” for the latest status.
- Read any message under “From your leasing team.”
- Open “Continue your next chapter” for a second-round invitation, or use “A note for your leasing team” to write a reply and select “Save reply.”
These reply controls appear for submitted applications that are still in progress. If you can’t see them, check the account and application status you’re viewing. The dashboard is the place to check for updates; don’t rely on an email notification.
How do my lease, insurance and move-in steps work?
Once your tenancy is arranged, your dashboard shows “Let’s get you move-in ready.” Follow the checklist your team provides. For items your residential lease and separate parking agreement, download the prepared form and submit the signed PDF. The deposit step shows the agreed amount and payment instructions before you upload your receipt. Then provide insurance and an emergency contact.
A submitted document or contact remains with your property team until they review it. “Verified” means the step is complete. If an updated document is requested, read the reason and upload a replacement. Your account can submit information; staff verify it and arrange the keys and move-in inspection.
Open “Your signed lease” when it appears and keep a copy. Your lease and the team’s confirmation establish your move-in arrangements; submitting an application alone does not.
Who do I contact about my home after I move in?
Your dashboard shows your property team’s contact details when assigned, along with published building updates and your home guide. Use those contacts for maintenance or building questions. If contact details haven’t appeared yet, reach NBRS for direction. The portal is not an emergency service: for immediate danger or a medical emergency, call 911. For an urgent property issue, use the emergency contact provided by your property team.

Your account & privacy
How do I accept a team invitation?
- Open “Review invitation” in your NBRHOOD email. Check the building address, role and invited email, then choose “Sign in to accept.”
- Use the Google account with that email address. If a different account is already signed in, choose “Switch account” on the invitation. You’ll return to the same invitation after sign-in.
- Choose “Accept invitation” to open your NBRHOOD platform. Leasing agents arrive at Applications for the building on their invitation.
Invitations expire after seven days. If yours has expired or can’t be found, ask the owner or person who invited you to send a new one. If you already accepted it, sign in with the invited account and choose “Continue to your platform.” Keep invitation links private.
I can’t sign in, or my application isn’t showing.
- Open Sign in and use the same sign-in option and account you used for the application.
- If you’re in a different account, sign out from NBRHOOD, then sign in with the original account.
- If sign-in fails, check your connection and try again. If it still fails, try an up-to-date browser and allow the sign-in window to open.
Still stuck? Email hello@nbrs.ca with your account email, the home you applied for and the exact error message. Never share a password, sign-in code, financial document or sensitive screenshot.
How do I request access to my information or withdraw an application?
Email hello@nbrs.ca with the type of request and the home concerned. The team may need to verify your identity before handling it. For information about access, corrections, withdrawal and retention, read the privacy notice. Don’t send identification or financial records with your initial email.
Still need a hand?
Email hello@nbrs.ca and tell us the home you’re asking about and what you’re trying to do. If you have an application in progress, you can also leave a reply in your dashboard.
Please keep financial documents and identification out of email. Use the portal’s upload controls or ask the team for a secure alternative.
